UPDATE* Public Notice Regarding Main Line Break Under Harbor

Isle of Palms Water and Sewer Commission reports that the water main break has been repaired as of Friday, May 27, 2022. 

May 23, 2022 - Isle of Palms, SC 

Update from the Isle of Palms Water and Sewer Commission on the Charleston Water System (CWS) main break under the harbor.

Repairs were attempted on Thursday, May 19 and Friday, May 20, 2022. Unfortunately, the repair ban did not hold as planned and the line is still leaking. CWS has ordered an encapsulation device to place over and around the break to seal it. This device has been ordered and is expected to arrive Tuesday, May 24, 2022 and installed as soon as a support structure can be put in place. 

Unfortunately, due to the repairs being ongoing, the Isle of Palms Water and Sewer Commission asks that residents refrain from using their irrigation systems until further notice. Once the repairs are made and the water main is secure, the IOP Water and Sewer Commission will turn the irrigation systems back on and will update the notice to reflect the positive repairs.
