Update - February 2025
Tuesday, February 11, 2025
- Staff has learned that the change the scope of the project to increase the level of protection from 6’ to 7’, has been escalated from the State to FEMA for review. The grant consultant indicates that the State felt that the increase in protection should not negatively impact the grant award.
- Staff, engineer and Wild Dunes staff are working to develop an agreement to incorporate flood mitigations modifications into the planned golf course improvements as approved by Council in January. Work could begin before the end of February. Additional work is happening to create an easement for long term maintenance of the flood controls.

- Staff met with grant coordinator and learned that the change the scope of the project to increase the level of protection from 6’ to 7’, has been escalated from the State to FEMA for review. Staff is working with City’s grant consultant to understand the implications.
- Staff and engineer are working with Wild Dunes staff and Wild Dunes golf course contractor to finalize a cost estimate to incorporate flood mitigations modifications into the planned golf course improvements. The staff is hopeful to have a range of cost by workshop meeting and a detailed estimate for full Council meeting.

- Staff met with FEMA and executed the grant agreement. FEMA advised on necessary next steps to change the scope of the project to increase the level of $1.1M ( $157K Design & Permitting - Capital Projects Fund. City seeking $990K Grant from FEMA Hazard Mitigation Grant for construction) Waterway Boulevard Multi-Use Path Elevation Project protection from 6’ to 7’, which is being worked on now with the City’s grant consultant.
- Staff, engineer , Wild Dunes staff, and Wild Dunes golf course contractor met on site to discuss the incorporating flood mitigations modifications into the planned golf course improvements. The golf course contractor is working on providing a cost estimate to incorporate the flood mitigation into the project.
