Winter Storm Update #1
The City of Isle of Palms is closely monitoring the winter storm and the potential impacts to our area. Due to hazardous road conditions, city officials encourage everyone to delay travel.
Weather Update:
The risk for accumulating snow and freezing rain persists. Total snow and sleet accumulations between one and one half to two and one half inches.
- Most likely start time: 4 - 7 PM, January 21.
- Greatest Impact: 8 PM Tuesday to 6 AM Wednesday.
City Operations:
- City administrative offices and the Recreation Center will be closed on Wednesday, January 22.
- All programs, meetings and classes scheduled for January 22 have been canceled.
- Tuesday's regular garbage collection route (which includes 30th Ave through Wild Dunes) will occur on Thursday, January 23.
Suggested Preparations:
- Do not drive in hazardous road conditions.
- If you must go outside, dress in layers.
- Ensure you have an emergency kit with essential supplies, including water, food, medication and first aid. Keep your mobile devices charged and have a battery powered radio for updates.
- Residents should continue to monitor weather updates from the National Weather Service and local news.
