City Adopts Clyde, NC as Sister City

In the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, many communities still face challenges from storm impacts. One community, in particular, has formed a lasting connection to Isle of Palms. During an early October City Council Workshop, there was a discussion regarding adopting a sister city in Western North Carolina, to aid in its storm recovery efforts. The adopted city, Clyde North Carolina, was confirmed during the October 22 City Council meeting.

City of Isle of Palms' recent T-shirt competition has proven to be a beacon of hope for a family in Clyde, and has also proven to be a special addition to the island's culture. Elizabeth Plemmons, the competition winner, was announced on October 17. Elizabeth's design will be featured on IOP's new T-shirt and included in the city's promotional campaigns. The new design and the appreciation for Elizabeth and her family, have led the city to adopt Clyde as a sister city. The city will provide support to Clyde on an ongoing basis as needs are accessed.
