Disaster can strike at any time of the day, so it's important to have a planned response when you're at work, on vacation or on the road.
In a disaster, local officials and public safety personnel might not be able to reach everyone immediately. It is important to keep enough supplies in your home to meet the needs of your family for at least three days. See what to include in your emergency kit and other hurricane preparedness tips below.

· Prepare an Emergency Kit with items you may need in an emergency or evacuation, and store them in sturdy, easy-to-carry containers.
· Prepare your Pets for Emergencies - Pets are important members of our families, remember to include them in your disaster preparation plans.
