Upcoming Island Tree Trimming: Drop in & Learn More
As part of its five-year cycle to maintain public safety and electric system reliability, Dominion Energy will begin pruning trees on Isle of Palms in March. The project is set to last approximately 12-14 weeks. Dominion has an obligation and responsibility to maintain the delivery of electricity to its customers and to do so, the lines must be kept free of tree limbs. There are also safety reasons for trimming, as utility company employees work around power lines and trees in hazardous conditions.
The City of Isle of Palms and Dominion Energy will cohost a drop-in meeting on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Isle of Palms Recreation Center- located at 24 28th Avenue. Representatives from Dominion Energy and tree trimming contractor, Xylem, will be available to answer questions and discuss safety, reliability, proper pruning methods, and more. To help residents better understand how the project will impact their community, oversized maps marking the streets where trimming is planned will also be on display.
Approximately two weeks before trimming begins in their area, property owners will be notified by mail or email, depending on their set communication preferences with Dominion.
