Update #2 - Tropical Storm Nicole

The City continues to monitor the developments of Tropical Storm Nicole. A Tropical Storm Watch is in effect for our area. Nicole is expected to strengthen to a Category 1 hurricane as it makes landfall on the east coast of Florida by Thursday morning.

While the latest forecast moves the center of the storm away from the SC coast, Nicole is a large system with tropical storm winds extending over 300 miles from the center of the storm. Nicole is expected to produce 2-4 inches of rain, storm surge between 2-4 ft and tropical storm winds in our area.  Estimated earliest arrival of tropical storm winds in IOP is Thursday morning.

As of this update, there are no changes in City operations. We will continue to monitor and be prepared to change operational conditions when and if appropriate.  

Residents are encouraged to continue to monitor weather reports from the National Weather Service and work on their storm plans.
