IOP Face Covering Requirement Extended Through May 5, 2021
On Friday, March 5, 2021, Governor McMaster rescinded the Executive Order that required the use of face coverings in government buildings and restaurants. The Executive Order recommends the previously mandated face covering safety measures in restaurants. Read the complete Executive Order 2020-12 here.
However, the City of Isle of Palms City Council approved Emergency Ordinance 2021-02 which extends the mandate for the use of face coverings inside food and service establishments, by patrons and employees. The requirements and regulations of the existing emergency ordinance are in place until May 5, 2021, unless extended by City Council.
The Isle of Palms Police Department is responsible for the enforcement of emergency regulations. Any person violating the face covering requirement may receive a civil penalty of up to $25.
The City appreciates our community's efforts and commitment towards preventing the spread of COVID-19 and ensuring the safety of employees and patrons.
