Tropical Storm Debby Update and Important Information

10:00 a.m., August 8, 2024
Mayor Phillip Pounds signed a proclamation this morning ending the State of Emergency in the City of Isle of Palms.
Staff has concluded the Municipal Emergency Operations Center and shifting towards recovery operations.
Weather Update:
- TS Debby made a second landfall around 2:00am this morning in the Bull’s Bay area between Awendaw and McClellanville.
- No Tropical Watches or Warnings remain in effect.
City operations
- City staff are conducting damage assessments on the island, the beach and city buildings and facilities. No significant damage was reported in Isle of Palms.
- Garbage collection has been cancelled for the rest of the week. Normal garbage collection will resume on Monday, August 12, 2024.
- City Administrative offices and the Recreation Center will reopen at noon on Thursday, August 8th.
- All meetings and events scheduled for this week have been cancelled and will be rescheduled for a later date.
- Public Restrooms on Front Beach will be closed on Thursday, August 8th and reopen on Friday, August 9th.

Road Closures:
- 500 Block of Ocean Blvd between 5th & 6th is closed due to standing water.
