Headed by the City Administrator, the General Government or Administrative Department is the central division of City Government for executing policies set by the Mayor and City Council. The Division operates the fiscal function of the City, the record keeping for all historic and ordinance records, the legal and judicial function of the City.
From the General Government or Administrative Department, the City Administrator directs all departments of the City to include Police, Fire, Public Works, Recreation, Building & Planning as well as has oversight on the City's properties and facilities such as the five acre Isle of Palms Marina. The General Government Office is in City Hall at 1207 Palm Boulevard and is the central point of contact for citizens' service.
Service referrals are made to appropriate departments or handled by the General Government staff. General Government is charged with the fiscal management of the City and the distribution of agendas and recording of minutes of all City Council meetings, the payment of bills, assists with the procurement of goods and services for all departments, handles all matters related to municipal court.
The General Government Division also serves as the central point of contact for the many visitors to the Isle of Palms providing useful information to improve and enhance the experience.
