Business Licenses

ShoppingTo obtain a City of Isle of Palms Business License:

Residential Home Builders must present a South Carolina state card. Commercial, Non-Residential General Contractors must present a South Carolina state card.  Electrical, Plumbing and Mechanical Contractors must present either a state license or a Charleston County license. The contractor must have a tested license. Painters, carpenters, flooring, concrete, and all other contractors must present a card demonstrating they are registered with the state of South Carolina. According to state law, anyone contracting for $200 or more of work must be registered. Applications for registration with the are available in the City of Isle of Palms Building Department.

ATTENTION: OWNERS & AGENTS OF THE CITY OF ISLE OF PALMS RESIDENTIAL RENTAL PROPERTIES

The City of Isle of Palms Residential Rental Applications were mailed June 19, 2014.  Property owners who lease their residences have until Friday, August 29, 2014 to submit payment to the Business License Office wihtout a penalty.  All payment fees submitted after Friday, August 29, 2014 will be assessed a 5% penalty each month the fee is not paid.  Residential renters without a current Isle of Palms Residential Rental License may also be subject to criminal prosecution.  Failure to recieve a Residential Rental License application does not relieve owners of the responsibility of paying the business license fee.  It is unlawful for any person or agent to act as a rental or management agent for an owner of a property who does not have a current Isle of Palms Residential Rental license.  Contact the Isle of Palms Building Department with any questions at 843-886-9914 or visit 1207 Palm Boulevard, Isle of Palms, SC 29451 between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

BUSINESS LICENSE RENEWAL NOTICE TO ALL BUSINESSES LOCATED
OR DOING BUSINESS IN THE CITY OF ISLE OF PALMS

Business license holders typically receive a renewal notice at this time of year.  However, City Council recently amended the City of Isle of Palms Code to shift the due date for business licenses from January 31st to April 30th.  Business license holders will receive a renewal form in mid-March.  The revenue reporting period will remain the calendar year.
